My Philosophy
Physicians have recognized the interplay between the mental and physical for centuries, but the ability to discover, diagnose and treat illness has driven medicine to a model of symptomatic treatment. The medical community has developed a renewed interest in studying the impact emotions have on health in an area of study called psychoneuroimmunology. This discipline has uncovered some interesting connections between thoughts, the production of hormones and other neurotransmitters and the efficacy of the immune system. In plain talk, our thoughts influence our behavior which influences our level of health.
I chose Symbiology Massage as the name for my business because it speaks to the subtle yet essential connection between the mind and the body. My goal is to continue to understand how massage impacts thought and movement patterns and as a result improves the ability to manage pain, correct musculoskeletal issues and potentially improve general health.
